Below are 5 ideas for assisting your student with their homework.

1. First, and most importantly, make sure that your student uses their planner. The planners are the best way to stay organized and know what homework your student has. If they don’t write down their Spanish homework, they may forget to do it!

2. Have your student make flashcards with the English word on one side and the Spanish word on the other. Use them to quiz him/her. Spanish is fairly phonetic, so you should be able to look at the answer and see if they are correct.

3. Encourage your student to talk to me if they need extra help or explanation. Whether in person or via email, I appreciate a student being able to talk to me. I will set up a time with your student to assist them.

4. Assure that your student studies Spanish for 10 minutes/night, even if there is NO written homework. There is a large amount of vocabulary necessary to learn another language, so study time is VERY important in your student’s success.

5. If your student is stuck on a homework assignment and you can’t help them, encourage them to call one of their “AMIGOS” from class.
